Bit of background I’m 62 used to be very fit, but life changes and over the last 10 years I’ve noted a gradual deterioration in my general flexibility, my muscle strength. Small things like knees giving way when I walked down the stairs, can’t quite turn my head over my shoulder when driving, all over body pains, can’t run or jump anymore etc etc.
I work with the elderly 5 days a week many of whom can’t get out of their chairs and I’m in the sitting position all day. I had a sudden epiphany this will be me if I don’t take control. Coincidently a friend asked me to go to the gym with her, I had so many excuses like I don’t like gyms, I’d join and never go, the biggest being I’ve haven’t got time. Turns out I have, Tandy’s gym is so flexible with times, small classes, payments, no joining fees and its comfortable. The 7 am group class fits in with my life perfectly the sessions are very comfortable (no fancy Lycra) everyone is just like you.
The training environment is calm, friendly but serious everyone has their own targets, and everyone’s at different stages in their training.
Development is encouraged but not pushed, it’s a let’s give it a go attitude which is great for me as I always think I can’t do that. I have made great progress in just 4 weeks, my knee no longer gives out on stairs, I can turn my head when driving, I can do a plank, my muscle tone is returning, and I feel taller.
Rob the PT instructor clearly enjoys his job; he is gently spoken, easy to talk too. His workouts are challenging but not impossible to do, the hour goes really quickly. The way the Gym is set up Rob has time to watch, advise, encourage and help everyone in the room and make it look like he’s doing nothing, the music’s, good.
I can t believe I am saying this but I am actually enjoying it and would really like to increase my sessions from 3 a week to maybe 5. I need to do it gradually, adjust my work life balance so I can manage long term. Come and join us

He is very welcoming as a trainer I was a total novice, to begin with, but his knowledge and training skills have helped me achieve my strength and improved my well-being. I sought out a personal trainer about 18 months ago having started and failed at a few tries at getting fit again. I was feeling out of shape, low in energy, and, well, frankly, over the hill. As I have got older ( and fatter! 🙈😁)I have often felt intimidated going to the gym, especially in the weights section, always unsure if I was doing the exercises correctly and worrying what others thought.

I haven't been in a gym for over 18yrs and although I play tennis regularly I felt there was an element of fitness missing.....

Rob is the most patient and understanding trainer that I have worked with, yet despite how nice he is he still manages to get the best from me and works me hard. Rob isn’t a drill sergeant trainer, he understands that everyone has their own unique way of working and uses this to get the best from them.
I previously trained with Rob 3-4 years ago and only stopped due to a life event, when I saw that Rob was starting up on his own, I jumped at the chance to train with him again.
